You Guys Are All The Same

How have I been doing with my home based business? That's good question and one that many people like to know just to see if working from home really works.  Since May of 2005 I have been earning consistently about 1/4 of my engineering salary month after month.

For me personally, I work full time, have 3 children that want my attention as well as my beautiful wife that let's me know that I'm spending too much time working and not spending time with family enough.  I thank her for keeping me in check, otherwise I'd just keep working.  I have also taken on the responsibility as being a leader in the AWANA program at our church.  I have just passed the CA Life Agent exam for my Life Agent License, and successfully passed the Series Series 6 and 63 Securities licenses.

To say that I'm too busy to build a business would be the truth, but I don't make those excuses.  Frankly, I take out the TV watching and focus on business in the evening.  I also use my daily commute (1 hour each way) to make calls to clients and potential business partners. Totally, I spend about 15 hours each week on my home based business and my average hourly wage for my effort throughout each month is approximately $33-40 hourly. 

Does making an income like that happen immediately?  No, it could take 3 to 6 months for you to get it there, but it's highly possible to be faster if you have more than 15 hours weekly to put into you home based business.  My goal is to make it residual, meaning, I will be paid that continually like a retirement income.  Therefore choosing the right companies are critical.  Just don't jump into any company that comes along, take your time and study it.  There are lots to consider.  I use my website here to get people involved in a mentoring program to get them to where they want to be.  Helping You Build Your Home Based Business  I can help point you in the right direction if you would like my input.

It truly can be rewarding if there are goals you would like to achieve.  Having your own home based business is security for your family and for making extra payments for emergencies that come up throughout the year.  They will come up, it's only a matter of time and one of them could be losing your job!

Perhaps you have not found a home-based business that has worked for you like you thought it should have or the owners ended up closing the business leaving you "out to lunch!". 

Unfortunately, that has happened to many people.  That is why Networking or the dreaded acronym "MLM" has got a bad rap.  I try to look at it from a different angle and I'm optimistic because not all MLMs are bad or Ponzi schemes (money only no products). AKA Pyramid schemes...that one ALWAYS makes me laugh because I know the person hasn't looked very far from where they work now because their entire organization is shaped like a pyramid.   To me, when a person says that, it's what their best friend or family members have always told them, and was perhaps a little too gullible to see if it was true or not. I can't blame you, I was the same way.

That is a whole separate discussion, but just for grins...What if I were to tell you that EVERY business is an MLM organization?  Tell me, will you ever make more than the Owners or your Boss?  If you were to print out the structure, it would look like...a Pyramid! eek! And who REALLY owns you at your job and tells you when to come to work, when you can leave, what kind of car, home or toys you can buy?  Get the picture?

I hear this sometimes: "You guys are all the same...blah blah blah." A wise person once said, "Fools are always certain, but wise men leave room for doubt". That impression of the MLM health industry is not unique. I share your skepticism, however, I always seek the exception. My due diligence has proven beyond any doubt, Eniva and VIBE is an exception. These products and companies are the first business ventures which not only met, but actually exceeded my expectations.

Don't fall into the old Sales trap

OLD SALES GURU MYTH # 1  - "Cold calling is a numbers game."  But, sales is only a numbers game when all you know is traditional selling. Yes, you can call people over and over, chase them until they listen to you so that you just go away. However there is a better - easier method of building trust and getting your product or service message across - all on one call. Simply by changing your sales approach you'll make FEWER CALLS and MORE SALES.

OLD SALES GURU MYTH # 2 - "Use a sales script to cold call." People can tell when you're reading from a script, even if you think you're pretty good at it and getting away with it. There's nothing personal about it and people can pick that up. Being artificial just puts you into the typical "Salesperson" category. If you can learn to get your message across in a different way, you'll eliminate the negative triggers that can lose your sale within seconds.

OLD SALES GURU MYTH # 3 - "Focus on closing the sale." Are you "going in for the kill" with your closing sale technique? - If you are, you could end up killing your deal instead. Old sales techniques do nothing more than pressure the client or prospect, and as a result they naturally want to retreat away from that pressure - and that pressure is you. By learning to avoid the "push and pull" dynamic between you and your prospect, you'll be able to move the sales process forward to get the result you want.
